Idylwild
Elementary
- Congratulations to all my students for a fantastic first grade year. We had oodles of fun, and learned so much... that the school year just FLEW by!
- Thank you to all my wonderful parents! I truly appreciate all you have done for our class this year. Our Family Picnic was a success because of your support.
We couldn't have done it without you...a million thanks!
- Last day of school is Friday, June 5th.
Reminder: Wed - Fri, June 3rd, 4th & 5th are SHORT DAYS, dismissal at 12:30
Summer Break Tips:
- READ, READ, READ!!! For an hour or more each day. Break it in into 15 or 20 minute sessions. Try to read smoothly, and to use expression in your voice. Go to the Alachua Public Library, it's the BEST place for great books!
Here's a list of our FAVORITE authors:
Todd Parr, Stephen Huneck, Dr. Seuss, Eric Carle,
Else Holmeland Minarik, Arnold Lobel, Robert Munsch,
Joy Cowley, Bill Martin Jr., Johnathon London,
David Shannon, and Audrey Wood.
- Do your everyday MATH: count coins, tell the time, count by 2's, 5's and 10's, divide shapes into fractions, measure with rulers, create graphs of things of things around the kitchen, etc.
Keep your math brain working kids!
- Do some kind of writing every day. You can: write in a journal, draw a map, make a list, retell a story you know or have read, or make a book of your own...it's fun!
- And last, but not least - stay healthy and be active! Eat good foods like fruits, vegetables and whole grains and drink lots of water. Play sports or do some exercising, and don't forget to do a good Morning Stretch. Have a wonderful and safe summer kids!
